  1. Just wondered if anyone knows of or has one of these boards sitting around they could photo please Im just trying to put this board into an MDR 2 The board was given to me with the aerial mounting separated from the board and now I have no reference to where or what the centre pin of the aerial connects to :( Any help greatly appreciated All best Joe
  2. Im coming out of my (sort of) retirement for a few days next week but as ive sold my rig I'll be working with a rental, specifically a Pro 2 with a Pro Arm. Having only used a Pro arm (and Pro sled) a handful of times is there anything i need to be aware of when using it? - Im thinking specifically of needing to switch cannisters in the arm (im flying a Milenium XL and a 435 with E-Series anamorphics) or switching the mating pin to go from my back mounted vest to a garfield mount. Is it a relatively self explanatory process that i can work out on the prep day or do i need to look for a PDF
  3. Hey folks, I was hoping the wider community could help me with a problem I had on a short at the weekend. I prepped a job on Friday, Ultra 2 sled, Ultrabrite2 monitor and an Alexa, it was an older Alexa with max internal recording capacity of ProRes 4444HD. The image on the UB2 was perfect during prep no problems. Mon out - sled - UB2 - all good. The cameraman wanted to record higher resolution via an external recorder/monitor - Odyssey 7Q. This all seemed fine, he just needed to buy a license from Convergent-Design to allow him to access this. All that was required from the camer
  4. A correction: I think the last video on the "twiga" query is not about the twiga arm. It's a new arm using rubber bands, don't know what's the brand name. So apologies for the confusion.
  5. you still think that this arm is full of friction? :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/thesteadicamgroup/search/?query=twiga

  7. Someone PM'd me, so let me expand on that a little... Everyone I have ever known at Tiffen has been lovely. Whenever I have spoken to Garrett he has been wonderful, and naturally I have a lot of respect for him. There is however something about the internal structure in place at Tiffen which can make some issues that should be solved in days or hours take weeks to be resolved. It's just the way the company seems to be organised, many emails have to be sent back and forth and different people have to be copied in, darting all over the company, different departments etc. When you rely on y
  8. Hi Eric, I'm very grateful for your comments, as I'm now aware of how open my original words are for misinterpretation. You're of course completely correct in your list of accys that my photos fail to depict, but I did say that the setups I had (or, at least the second one, using the slim adapter plate) that there was plenty of room left for mass on the rig, both in theory and in practice, and if I had access to a matte-box and other stuff at the time, I would have loaded them on, and flown them for demo's sake. FYI, the photos with the adapter plate in use were taken at a rental house
  9. This may not be a problem with the camera itself. The HDMI port has a little intelligence, so when you connect an hdmi monitor transmitter etc, The device sending the signal will query the other device and ask what formats it supports. If 23.98 is not in the list it sends back, the camera will not output the signal.
  10. Tricky part with this sort of query is, as I have said before, that specific conditions are the wild card. Unless units are tested over the same conditions one after another (not simultaneously as interference can affect the outcome), across multiple environments, it's a tough call. I'm sure this thread will invite plenty of enthusiastic responses like "I bought the X and it's been great" but that's not the answer to this specific question. One thing I can suggest is that the particular design of the Boxx system to introduce noise into the image before it loses it, and to regain signal qui
  11. I'm just clearing out a load of kit and came across a J7 Zoom control with Fuji pins. Im looking to sell this in the very near future so plugged it into one of my cameras to check it out. The zoom works perfectly and the start/stop button works fine. My query is that when I plug the cable in for the first time it runs the camera. I can turn it off with the switch and everything works fine from then on, its just that initial input that seems to set the run off. Is this normal? I would have presumed that the switch was also a direction changer for the controller but at the moment it isnt doing
  12. Hey Ben, You’re right about query. I think it’s a reasonable one too. It’s a feature that I wish BFD had which could have made it even a better product. The “disclaimers” was there not from the fear of upsetting people but from the fear that people may misunderstand me. I had to underline my true feelings about this product because we have some very excited people on the forum and they are able to jump to conclusion which may or may not be compatible with my own. I already lived that though the great arm debate. And I don’t want to be misunderstood again. This is perhaps due to my Eng
  13. Hi Evrim, Firstly this is a completely reasonable query and I don't think you should feel you need to add disclaimers such as above in fear of upsetting anyone - after all this isn't reduser!! The drag adjustment on the Preston handset is certainly something I value, although it's purely ergonomic and has no effect on functionality or responsiveness. I do on occasion make that adjustment when the handset feels to me too tight or loose, and yes the feel does matter, even if it's just psychological. I think having a certain amount of friction on the handset makes you feel as if you have
  14. Holly, I don't know anything about Lemo vs "knock-off" Lemo connectors, and I don't feel I know more after your "schooling" of Afton. You may be correct, but I can't tell cause your argument is all over the place. More importantly, you missed the point entirely. Maybe you know what brand connectors you want to use. Great, you're smarter than us in that area, good for you. But 4 people have asked what model steadicam you are using and in 3 replies you have not answered. So far everyone, including Afton, has tried to help you find your answers, and Afton has repeatedly suggested you l
  15. Technically a non-steadicam related question (apologies in advance) but as I also work as a jib assistant, I have a query for anyone more knowledgeable about this device, or hopefully for Jim if he is around. In theory because the device is designed to take an input from an 8 pin controller, could it also take a direct connection from a jimmy Jib hand-hand unit via the 8 pin connection to control a zoom motor? The operator I work with has been looking for a solution when using cine lenses to restore the zoom control that he has when using broadcast cameras and lenses. I think he wi
  16. Please excuse the request as a first post. I've been trying to contact Heden with a query, but haven't managed to get through in the last few weeks on their email or phone number as published on the site. I know many here will be using their equipment, so wondered if anyone knew of a problem, or had an alternative form of contact to those on Heden's web site? Many thanks Alex
  17. Hi Guys, after looking closely, I believe this unit is basically the IDX Camwave re-packaged. It looks intriguing and, perhaps, worthy of a closer look but I don't particularly like internal antennas so... Pro-X may have installed some updated chip sets. I've got a query in to the manufacturer so I'll post what I learn. Cheers, Tim
  18. Wow. Okay. I was just curious if someone had worked up a mod to accommodate this. You never know what's getting cooked up in the minds of the operators on this forum. I agree wholeheartedly with the grooviness of the design, but you never know... Thanks for the replies. Wish I had phrased the query to sound a little less noobish. On the upside, I have plenty of leads on Kipp handles now.
  19. There are currently 6 versions of the Pilot available at B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller...it=Submit+Query ? Pilot-AA (AA Battery Mount, 5.8" LCD Monitor, Backpack carry case, no batteries or charger) ? Pilot-VL (V-Lock Battery Mount, 5.8" LCD Monitor, Backpack carry case, no batteries or charger) ? Pilot-AB (Anton Bauer Battery Mount, 5.8" LCD Monitor, Backpack carry case, no batteries or charger) ? Pilot-NCO (AA Battery Mount, 3.5" NTSC LCD Monitor, No backpack carry case, no batteries or charger) ? Pilot-PCO (AA Battery Mount, 3.5" PAL LCD Monitor, No backpack c
  20. I don't know if it?s a scam or not, but it definitely looks a bit shit... Probably not the best forum to direct your query tho? Try DVinfo, DVXuser or similar. Good luck! Rick.
  21. Hi friends!. I need a little help and some councils. Next weeck-end I´ll work in a very important soccer match: Barcelona vs. Real Madrid. It will be my first time at this kind of work, and I´ve some query about. If I have to walk on the grass... Have I to take specials shoes or isn´t necesary?. Now, at Spain is raining.. and normaly sport shoes can slide on the grass.... I don´t know. If some one have worked in this.... Welcome all kind of councils... Thanks in advance. ;)
  22. Based on previous conversations about amperage, cable gauge and different lemo plug amp capacities I have a new query. With my GPI II battery system if a thicker gauge post cable were to be used (16 AWG for power) and a larger lemo plug for both Upper junction (3B 308, 13 amp capacity) and Camera power out of Upper Junction box 2S.303 (15 amp capacity) would this scenario then only lead to the 10 Amp Breakers on the Sled popping any time the draw from the camera was too much?
  23. Hey Mike, First and foremost, if you do not know who Canadian Steve Campanelli is, take a look at the films he has helped bring to the Silver Screen. Apart from being a very talented individual, he is Clint Eastwood's exclusive 'A' Camera/ Steadicam Operator. When Clint won his Oscar for 'Million Dollar Baby', he personally thanked 'Campanelli' in his Oscar acceptance speech - that is how valuavle Steve is to Clint. As for 'Flags of our Fathers' - I saw the film the week it came out, specifically to see Steve's work and yes there are some non-perfect steadicam shots (which very well mig

    Geo vs Pro

Hello All! I don't want to start a row over kit etc. but I had a little query I'd like to put to the floor. I have recently sold my old Glidecam and have sorted out a finance deal to buy a proper rig now that I am starting to get enough Steadicam work. I was originally going to go the whole hog and buy a full kit (one of Howards lovely MK-V's) but I have decided to wait on the sled for 9 months or so and just get the Arm and the Vest for now... and continuing hiring the sled. I had my mind set on a pro arm (why settle for anything less) and I was infact going to place the order nex
  25. Hey people, this is my first post. Although i am not a steadicam operator, i have been quite fascinated by the rigs and have undertaken the task of constructing a working prototype of a steadicam rig. Now this is going to be a rig for smaller, hand-held cam-corders/digi cams/dv cams much like the steadicam jr. although i hope to include a method of attaching the rig to the body. I'm well aware of the challenge i have set myself, considering an eight month construction time limit and a 'small' budget, so i've decided to attack the problem from the bottom up - designing a very simple rig
